How to Talk to Your Children, Friends and Family About Israel
What you need to know to have constructive conversations and meaningful dialogue
Exploring the World of Judaism
Presented by: Jessica Kosmin
This dynamic, participatory workshop will provide the tools you need to have a constructive conversation about Israel with your friends and family, paying particular attention to how to talk to your children about the current conflict in Israel. We will examine the messaging Jewish youths are exposed to on social media, in schools and on college campuses in relation to Israel. We also will discuss how the BDS global movement and the pervasive, new anti-Israel rhetoric are reframing the conversation about Israel for the next generation. Explore with Jessica the importance of talking about the Arab-Israeli conflict at home in a safe space without shying away from the tough issues, and how best to do this. Most importantly, we will explore your personal connection to Israel and your opinions on current events so you have the motivation and confidence to engage in positive and meaningful dialogue.
