Reshet: Retreat and Conference for Leaders of Jewish Meditation Groups
Presented by the Institute for Jewish Spirituality
Part Jewish meditation retreat and part conference, this program will support those who are engaged in the work of leading local Jewish meditation groups. We will engage in practice throughout the program, study with leading teachers, learn best practices from one another and explore the leading edges of this growing field. Our conversations will touch upon key issues, both practical and philosophical, of being a teacher and organizer of local Jewish meditation groups. This program is also ideal for those who would like to start a local group.
In addition to the many opportunities for learning and practice we will do together, participants will be able to choose a more focused track for the sake of delving more deeply into specific applications and manifestations of this practice (e.g. Teaching Jewish Mindfulness to Youth, Understanding the Differences between Judaism and Buddhism, etc.).
The whole program, including the conference days, will be infused with regular periods of practice, including opportunities for yoga and embodied practice. The Jewish Meditation Group Network Retreat and Conference will give participants a greater grounding in their practice as well as with renewed energy -- and practical tools -- for supporting the flourishing of Jewish meditation practice across our communities. This program will feature original paper presentations from leading teachers on: Towards Defining a Jewish Mindfulness Practice.
The Faculty includes Rabbis Jordan Bendat-Appell, Sam Feinsmith, Lisa Goldstein, Jeff Roth, Jonathan Slater, and Sheila Peltz Weinberg.
Featured Guest Teachers inclue Sylvia Boorstein, Daniel Rechtschaffen, Julie Emden, Rabbi Dorothy Richman and Rabbi James Jacobson-Maisels....and more great teachers and key-note speakers to come!
